We are looking for new cutting-edge technology solutions which have the potential to make a significant impact on the copper industry.

Successful METS Start-ups will have the opportunity to present their groundbreaking ideas to a panel of industry expert judges at an Innovation Hour event as part of Copper to the World.

Priority will be given to solutions that have application in the following areas:

- Exploration

- Processing

- Decarbonisation

- Underground

The winner will gain significant exposure through the live pitching process as well as promotion in the lead-up as a finalist, and post-conference as the winner. This will include a feature in the Austmine newsletter, social posts and in the post-conference report. The winner will also receive one-hour mentoring sessions from each of the judges, or a representative from their organisation. In addition, Austmine will provide a one-year Membership extension and a place for participation in the Innovation Mentoring Program. 

Expressions of Interest to pitch are open to METS Start-ups in the pre-seed to growth phase of business.

EOIs from individuals or universities will not be accepted. 

You must be available to present in Adelaide on Tuesday 18 June 2024 from 6pm.  In exceptional circumstances virtual presentations may be considered.

The Judging Panel includes industry veterans, investors, and entrepreneurs who bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the table.

Phase 1 - Submission Period

METS Start-ups are invited to submit their Expression of Interest to pitch by Friday 17 May 2024 for evaluation by Austmine and the first stage judging panel.

A shortlisting process takes place, and five organisations will be selected to participate in Phase 2 – the Innovation Hour event.

Phase 2 - Innovation Hour Event

If selected for Phase 2:

1. You will have five minutes to present your solution to a panel of industry expert judges at the Innovation Hour Event at the Copper to the World Conference.

2. You will receive a complimentary delegate pass to attend the Copper to the World Conference. Accommodation and travel to Adelaide is not included.

3. Following the pitches, the Judging Panel will share their feedback with the presenters and discuss emerging trends in the copper industry.

Phase 3 - Winner Announced

The Judging Panel will select a winning company which will be announced in the closing session of Copper to the World on Wednesday 19 June 2024.
